Long Description

The image shows a modular shuttle for transporting passengers and freight from Earth to giant space colonies or other planets.

Technical details:

  • Up to six modules left and right, eight freight modules on top
  • Total length: 150.4 m
  • Total height: 29.5 m
  • Total mass: Top secret! (I don't know)
  • Hybrid propulsion (chemical propulsion for higher acceleration, electrical propulsion for long distances)

The scene contains 2215 finite objects and 13 light sources; the radiosity-feature is activated. For the earth I used free texture files from NASAs "Blue Marble" Project (http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/BlueMarble) with a resolution of 8192 x 4096 pixel.

Total time for render: 1h 40min

Used Hardware:

  • AMD Athlon XP 1600+, 768 MByte RAM
  • AMD Athlon XP 2000+, 256 MByte RAM

All machines run under Windows XP.
